Land Rover plans to better distinguish its SUV offerings by creating three distinct model lines. Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover's group sales operations director, told Automotive News Europe that Land Rover's three "legs" will consist of the Range Rover line for luxury SUV buyers, the Discovery line for mid-range customers and the Defender entry line.
He said the Land Rover name will be de-emphasized on future Range Rovers to help the line become more autonomous. The link to the mother company, however, will remain at some level. "I do not think the Land Rover badge will completely disappear from Range Rovers because being engineered by Land Rover is a plus we want to keep," Ross said.

The Range Rover lineup includes three models: the flagship Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover Evoque.
Land Rover’s Discovery range will also include Freelander models. The SUVs will be grouped together under “leisure” in Land Rover’s three-pillar strategy. The Defender range will be led by Land Rover’s iconic multi-purpose utility vehicle of the same name. It comes as a three- or five-door variant or as a single or double-cab pickup.
