CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Cambier began his career with Renault in 1979, holding several key management posts. After five years as commercial director for Renault Group France, Cambier was named the automaker's chairman of the Africa, Middle East and India region in September 2014. He retired from that post this summer.
REASON FOR WINNING: Under Cambier's leadership, Renault became the No. 1 selling European brand in India on the strength of the Kwid subcompact SUV. Launched in 2015, the Kwid has accounted for 175,000 sales since then. He also helped Renault finalize a joint venture in Iran that includes a plant with an initial capacity of 150,000 vehicles a year. In 2016, Renault and suppliers agreed to invest about 1 billion euros to strengthen the company's presence in Morocco.
