CAREER HIGHLIGHTSMesonero-Romanos started his career in 1994 when he joined Seat's design department, where his brother, Carlos, had been working since 1985. Mesonero-Romanos moved to Renault in 2001 to lead the design of the Laguna coupe. From 2009 to 2011 he directed design at Renault Samsung Motors in South Korea. He returned to Seat as design director in August 2011.
REASON FOR WINNINGWith the debut of the Tarraco midsize SUV at this month's Paris auto show, Mesonero-Romanos concludes a complete redesign of the Seat range that started with the Leon compact hatchback that arrived in 2012. Since then, Volkswagen Group's Spanish subsidiary has increased worldwide sales for five consecutive years, peaking at 290,000 units in the first half of this year, a rise of 18 percent on the same period in 2017.
