CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Angori started his career in 1989 as an aerodynamics researcher at Agusta Helicopters. A year later he moved to the Fiat Research Center. In 1997 he joined supplier ArvinMeritor, where he worked for 13 years, rising to general manager of the supplier’s commercial vehicle emissions business unit. In January 2007, he was appointed Pininfarina chief operating officer and two years later added CEO duties.
REASON FOR WINNING
Under Angori’s leadership, Pininfarina completed a long and painful restructuring that forced the founding family to give control of the company to creditor banks and exit the contract manufacturing sector to focus on design and engineering consulting. After Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra took a controlling 76 percent stake in 2015, reducing the debt burden, Angori ignited a growth spurt. As a result, Pininfarina reported strong first-half results that included a net profit of 3.1 million euros.
