CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
In July, Kroeger was picked to lead Robert Bosch's new high-tech division, Cross-Domain Computing Solutions, which consolidates major areas of the supplier's expertise in automotive software and electronics. Last year, he was named a management board member in charge of the Mobility Solutions business sector, which includes the chassis systems, car multimedia, automotive electronics and steering divisions. He joined Bosch in 2017 as president of the automotive electronics. Before that, Kroeger, who holds engineering and economics degrees, worked at Daimler for 23 years. His positions at Daimler included head of procurement for electrics and electronics and head of quality management at Mercedes.
REASON FOR WINNING
Bosch is about to form its Cross-Domain Computing Solutions business unit to speed up development and time to market for some of the supplier's most advanced technology. Some 17,000 employees, including software engineers, from Bosch's diverse business units will come together to find ways to integrate software-intensive automotive applications, and deliver them to automakers. The unit will work in three main domains: information, including infotainment, multimedia and displays; body and motion, which covers comfort functions and how the vehicle moves; and driver assistance and automated driving. Bosch says the overall market for such applications is 20 billion euros – and it is expected to grow fourfold in the next decade. Says Kroeger: "We want to be part of that market."
