Chardon replaces Thierry Koskas. The Stellantis brand has faced delays in new models and is dealing with fallout from a Takata airbag recall and problems with Stellantis's PureTech engines.
CEO Thierry Koskas said the ramp-up of the C3 and C3 Aircross, as well as the launch of the C5 Aircross, will help Citroen make up lost ground.
The compact SUV now rides on Stellantis's STLA Medium platform, which gives more room to rear-seat passengers and allows for a full-electric version.
The small hatchback is underpinned by the Smart Car platform, based on the CMP architecture.
The C3 Aircross small SUV, available with full-electric and ICE drivetrains, is a key model for Citroen, as it seeks to increase sales and meet its CO2 targets. The electric model starts at €27,400.
Production of the small SUV is expected to peak at 77,465 in 2025, according to a forecast from S&P Global Mobility.
Caroline Malleus, currently chief of staff to Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, will be director of product and strategy at Citroen. She succeeds Laurence Hansen.
Citroen is presenting EVs at the Paris auto show including the e-C3, while Renault is showing the R4 E-Tech, both under €35,000.
The C5 Aircross concept, revealed at the Paris auto show, points to the second generation of the SUV, which will have a full-electric drivetrain available and ride on the STLA Medium platform.
