FRANKFURT -- BMW Group's global sales rose 4.9 percent to 197,480 vehicles last month, boosted by demand for SUVs and by growth in Europe. The figure was a record for November.
Sales of BMW brand vehicles rose 5.6 percent to 167,853 in November, while volume at the group’s Mini brand rose 0.9 percent to 29,271, the company said in a statement today.
BMW said its SUVs continue to be a strong growth driver with sales of the X3 climbing 23 percent 14,115 last month, while monthly sales of the X6 more than doubled to 4,209.
Market growth
Europe, BMW's biggest regional market, showed the highest growth with group sales up 6.8 percent last month, followed by China where deliveries rose 3.2 percent. In the U.S., volume was up 1.2 percent.
Through November, group sales increased 6.9 percent to 2.03 million, the first time the automaker has sold over 2 million vehicles by this stage in the year. BMW's brand volume jumped 5.8 percent to 1.72 million and Mini sales rose 14 percent to 302,091.
