Former Nissan global sales chief and Hyundai Europe chief operating officer Allan Rushforth has joined the UK car dealership Lookers as managing director.
Rushforth joined Nissan as corporate vice president for worldwide sales two years ago. He moved from Frankfurt, Germany, where he was a senior vice president of Hyundai's European operations as well as COO, to Nissan’s global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan.
Lookers, which is Europe's fourth-biggest independent dealer group, said that Rushforth's global experience will strengthen its senior leadership during a period of growth at the company.
Rushforth will take responsibility for managing franchise dealers and will be tasked with overseeing operational performance on customer, brand partner and financial metrics, Lookers said in a statement.
Rushforth, an Englishman, began his automotive career 1983 working in fleet sales with the Rover Group in the UK. Following BMW's takeover of Rover in 1996, Rushforth moved to South Korea as executive director with responsibility for launching the Land Rover brand. During his career he has also worked as head of Audi's UK retail operations.
In other management changes, Rushforth's predecessor at Lookers, Nigel McMinn, has been promoted to chief operating officer, while finance director Robin Gregson has been promoted to chief financial officer.
