The Tesla Model Y was Europe's No. 1 selling full-electric model in 2022 while the Ford Kuga was the top-selling plug-in hybrid in Europe last year.
The Model Y was followed by the Tesla Model 3 on the list of the top selling full-electric cars while the No. 3 on the list was the Volkswagen ID4, which was also the No. 1 volume EV in Europe, according to preliminary figures from market researcher Dataforce.
The plug-in hybrid sector's No. 2-seller was the BMW 3 Series, which was also Europe's best-selling premium vehicle with the powertrain, according to data representing about 94 percent of sales in the European Union plus ETFA countries and UK.
Overall sales of full-electric cars rose 27 percent to more than 1.4 million units last year.
The plug-in hybrid sector was up slightly to 887,378.
