The Skoda Octavia was a top five-seller in 13 European countries through 11 months, beating the Renault Clio by four markets and its platform mate, the Volkswagen Golf, by five.
The Octavia was the leader in Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland and Switzerland through 11 months. It ranked as the No. 2-seller in Finland and Slovakia, No. 3 in Estonia, Hungary and Latvia, No. 4 in Germany and Lithuania and No. 5 in Belgium and Romania, according to figures from market researcher JATO Dynamics.

The Clio was among the top five-selling models in nine of the 27 markets that JATO tracks for Automotive News Europe. The small hatchback was No. 1 in France and Portugal, No. 2 in Belgium, No. 3 in Italy, No. 4 in Estonia, Greece, Romania and Spain and No. 5 in Luxembourg.
The Golf appeared in eight top fives, holding the No. 1 slot in Belgium and Germany, finishing No. 2 in Austria, Luxembourg and Norway, ranking third in the UK and Sweden and fifth overall in Latvia after 11 months.
The Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris each finished the period with six and five top-five appearances, respectively.
The Corolla was No. 1 in Finland, Ireland and Latvia, No. 2 in Estonia and Poland and finished third in Latvia.
The Yaris was tops in Greece, finished No. 2 in Finland, Poland and the Netherlands and fifth in Denmark.
