Toyota models appeared 52 times in the top 10 rankings of 30 European markets through six months.
Toyota was paced by the Yaris Cross and Yaris, which had a combined 18 placements in the top 10, with the Yaris Cross and its sibling hatchback having nine each.
Volkswagen was second with 31 top 10s followed by Kia with 28, VW sister brand Skoda, with 27, and Dacia at 26.
Hyundai and Peugeot ended the month with 19 each, according to figures from market researcher Dataforce.
If the Yaris and Yaris Cross are not combined, then the best individual model was the Dacia Sandero with 12 top-10s through six months followed by the Skoda Octavia with 11. The Dacia small hatchback finished No. 3 in Austria, Croatia, France, Italy and its home market, Romania. The Octavia compact family was No. 2 in Croatia and the Czech Republic and No. 3 in Switzerland.
The Volkswagen T-Roc had 10 placements in the top 10s.
The T-Roc was No. 1 in Cyprus and No. 2 in Germany.

Kia was led by the Ceed and Xceed compact family with a combined 11 placements in the top 10s and the Sportage compact SUV with nine top 10 finishes.
The Sportage had a No. 1 finish in Slovenia and finished No. 3 in Bulgaria, Estonia and Poland.
The 208, Europe's No. 1-seller in June and in the first half, had 10 placements in the top 10, including the top slot in France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
