Toyota was paced by the Yaris Cross (shown) and Yaris, which had a combined 21 placements in the top 10s in Europe, up from a combined 19 after seven months.

Toyota models appeared 56 times in the top 10 rankings of 30 European markets through eight months. That is up from 54 after seven months and 52 after six months of 2022.

In August the Yaris had 13 appearances in top 10s, up from 11 through July, and the Yaris Cross had eight, according to figures from market researcher Dataforce.

Volkswagen was second with 40 top 10s, up from 37 after seven months, followed by sister brand Skoda, with 28 placements.

Kia broke its fourth-place tie with Dacia. The South Korean automaker had 26 top 10 placements through August versus the Romanian brand's 25.

Peugeot had 20 appearance in the top 10s, while Hyundai had 18.

If the Yaris and Yaris Cross were not combined, then the vehicle that would have had the honor of best individual model is the VW T-Roc. The small SUV, which was Europe's No. 1-seller in July and August, had 14 placements in the top 10s, up from 10 through seven months.

The T-Roc was No. 1 in Cyprus and Slovenia and No. 2 in Germany.

The Yaris's 13 appearances included being No. 1 in Greece and No. 3 in Poland.

The Kia Sportage and Dacia Sandero both had 11 top 10 finishes.

The Peugeot 208 and Toyota RAV4 both had 10 appearances in the top 10s.

Combined, the Yaris/Yaris Cross, Corolla and RAV4 appeared 43 times in the top 10s through August.
