PRAGUE -- Volkswagen Group will partially halt production from the end of next week in Slovakia due to a shortage of chips, daily Hospodarske Noviny said on its website on Thursday.
"The situation is so bad that from the end of the next week we will have to halt certain parts of production," the newspaper quoted Oliver Gruenberg, head of VW's Bratislava plant, as saying.
The Bratislava plant builds the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, Audi Q8 and Porsche Cayenne SUVs, alongside the VW Up, Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii minicars, according to the automaker's website.
Bodies for the Bentley Bentayga SUV are also built at the factory and shipped to the brand's factory in Crewe, England.
