Cole: Hyundai charges into EV era
Hyundai Motor brands Hyundai and Kia have leaped to the forefront of the electric vehicle market in Europe with two new midsize crossovers, the Hyundai Ionic 5 and the Kia EV6. At the end of 2022, they ranked fifth and seventh overall in the segment. At the same time, Hyundai Motor's European market share rose to 9.4 percent from 8.7 percent in 2021.
Those models have just been joined by the Ionic 6 sedan. Future launches include a new version of the best-selling Hyundai Kona small SUV, which was the ninth most-popular EV overall in Europe, and the Ioniq 7 large crossover. Hyundai is also expected to get a small electric SUV in 2024.
Hear about Hyundai Motor's plans for its future in Europe from Europe President and CEO Michael Cole at the year's Automotive News Europe Congress.
