LONDON -- Land Rover's design director Gerry McGovern has been promoted to chief creative officer at the brand’s parent, Jaguar Land Rover.
McGovern's job as Land Rover's design boss will be taken by Massimo Frascella, JLR said in a statement emailed to Automotive News Europe. Frascella will report to McGovern.
In his role as chief creative officer, McGovern will oversee design functions at the Jaguar and Land Rover brands, JLR said.
McGovern, an Englishman, was appointed to lead Land Rover design in 2006. He has been credited with reviving the brand with models such as the Range Rover Evoque, the brand’s best-selling model, and the Range Rover Sport. His latest model to be launched is the revival of the iconic Land Rover Defender off-roader.
