Proton is hoping to launch its new medium-size sedan, the Perdana, in the UK this autumn. The car could be introduced to continental European markets next year. Like the Hyundai Sonata, the Perdana will compete in Europe's upper-me dium sector - even though it is slightly larger and better equipped than mainstream European competitors such as the Opel Vectra and Ford Mondeo. Featuring leather upholstery, automatic transmission, cruise control, antilock brakes and compact disc player as standard, the Perdana takes Proton into new territory. The 2.0-liter, V-6-powered car has been developed in conjunction with Proton-owned Lotus. Lotus focused on improving the Perdana's ride and handling , as well as reducing noise, vibration and harshness.
