BORN, Netherlands -- The future of Mitsubishi’s 40-year-old NedCar plant here has been unclear in recent years. Daimler sold its stake in NedCar owner Mitsubishi in 2005. Early in 2006, the German automaker abruptly ceased production of the Colt-based Smart ForFour at the factory.
