Bosch sells starters, generators division to Chinese groups

Robert Bosch has completed the sale of its starter and motor generator division to China's Zhengzhou Coal Mining Machinery Group and China Renaissance Capital Investment.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The former Robert Bosch Starter Motors Generators Holding is now an independent company and operates as SEG Automotive North America, based near Detroit in Novi, Michigan. SEG employs 8,000 at 16 locations globally.

Jon Husby, former vice president and general manager of customer business units for Harman International in suburban Detroit, is now the regional president for SEG in Novi, according to a news release.

"The name is new, but SEG Automotive is committed to continuity, especially in terms of location strategy and our employees," Husby said in the release. "Their many years of experience in the company, competence and commitment contribute significantly to our success."

SEG North America also includes a plant in Lerma, Mexico.
