EU tariffs on Chinese EVs to accelerate plant closures in Europe, Tavares says

PARIS -- The European Union's new tariffs on Chinese electric cars will accelerate plant closures in Europe by local automakers because they will push Chinese manufacturers to build facilities in Europe, exacerbating overcapacity problems, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said.
