Toyota models appeared 54 times in the top 10 rankings of 30 European markets through seven months. That is up from 52 in the first half of 2022.
Toyota was paced by the Yaris Cross and Yaris, which had a combined 19 placements in the top 10s, with the Yaris at 11 and the Yaris Cross at eight, according to figures from market researcher Dataforce.
Volkswagen was second with 37 top 10s, up from 31 after six months, followed by sister brand Skoda (28).
Kia and Dacia each appeared in 26 top 10s through July.
Peugeot had 21 appearance in the top 10s while Hyundai had 18.
If the Yaris and Yaris Cross were not combined, then three vehicles would have shared the honor of best individual model. Those four models, each with 12 placements in the top 10s, were the Dacia Duster, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla.
The Romanian-made Dacia small SUV finished No. 2 in its home market and third in Hungary, Iceland and Latvia.
The Octavia compact family was No. 1 in Croatia and the Czech Republic.

The Corolla was No. 1 in Finland and Poland through seven months.
The Peugeot 208 and Dacia Sandero each had 11 top 10s. They also rank No. 1 and No. 2 respectively in Europe's overall sales through July.
The Volkswagen T-Roc, Europe's No. 1-seller in July, had 10 placements in the top 10s. The T-Roc was No. 1 in Cyprus and No. 2 in Germany.
The Kia Sportage and Toyota RAV4 also had 10 placements in the top 10s. The Sportage's best showing was a No. 2 placement in Poland. The RAV4 was No. 1 in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and No. 2 in Iceland after seven months of sales.
