While Aston Martin pours engineering and financial resources into developing next-generation hybrid and battery-electric cars, it is counting on traditional high-performance piston-engine vehicles to pay the bills. That includes the return of the Vanquish, one of the British brand's most famed nameplates.
The old Vanquish ended production in 2018. The new Vanquish shares the name and little else.
The engine is a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 rated at 823 hp. The engine has an unusual feature called the Boost Reserve that essentially banks pressure from the turbochargers and releases it when the driver needs an instant burst of power under full acceleration.
Top speed is 214 mph (344 kph) -- the highest top speed of an Aston Martin series production car to date.
