TURIN -- Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said the automaker will extend the production of its Fiat Panda gasoline city car to 2030 in a bid to bring affordability to customers.
The Panda's combustion engine version was scheduled to be phased out in 2027, while a battery-electric Panda is expected to be launched later this year.
"We hear fake news that Stellantis wants to leave Italy. We're investing heavily in Italy," Tavares said.
The Panda, which is built in Pomigliano d'Arco near Naples, was Fiat's top-selling model in Europe in the first two months with 26,357 units sold, according to Dataforce market analysts.
