Kia has promoted former Ford, Volkswagen and Toyota executive Marc Hedrich as CEO of its European operations.
It’s the first time that the automaker has appointed a non-Korean executive to the role. Previously European executives only rose as high as No. 2 in Kia’s European business.
Kia is ramping up its electric vehicle sales toward its goal of reaching 55 percent electrified sales by 2030 globally. The brand has said it will launch 15 EVs by 2027. Hedrich said the European market had "an important role" to play in reaching in the EV target.
