Alexander Lutz, previously head of Polestar's operations in Italy, has moved to Lucid Motors to be the U.S. EV maker's managing director for Europe.
It will be the third time the 38-year-old German national will be in a strong position to influence a startup's establishment.
Lutz led Polestar's start-from-scratch entry into the German market, which was highlighted by the Polestar 2 winning the luxury category in the German Car of the Year (GCOTY) awards in 2020.
Under Lutz's guidance Polestar in 2021 increased sales in Europe's largest market by more than 150 percent to 2,631 units, according to the country's KBA motor authority.
In 2021, he was also named an Automotive News Europe Rising Star.
In 2022, he was tapped to lead Polestar's entry into the Italian market.
Lutz shared the information about his move to Lucid with Automotive News Europe. When ask why he decided to make the transition Lutz said: "I felt I had achieved my goals with Polestar by building up the brand in two markets. Lucid has always captivated me, especially with its tech/engineering-driven approach."
His predecessor at Lucid, Michael van der Sande, had overseen the European business for just under a year.
Lutz has spent his career at luxury brands, having gained experience at Audi and Maserati before becoming the first head of Germany for Polestar, starting with the Geely subsidiary in 2019.
