Alpine, Renault Group’s high-performance brand, has named Emmanuel Al Nawakil, a former Volkswagen Group executive, as vice president of sales and operations.
He replaces Cedric Journel, vice president sales and marketing, who will take up another position in the group, Renault said Monday.
Al Nawakil moves to Alpine from VW India, where he was director of sales and product programming. Before that, he was head of retail for VW in China, and held management positions at VW’s Spanish brand Seat. He has also worked at the former PSA Group (now part of Stellantis).
Alpine has also increased the responsibilities of communications director David Gendry, who becomes communications and marketing vice president.
Al Nawakil and Gendry will sit on Alpine’s management committee and report to Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi.
Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo is expanding Alpine, which until now has had only a single model, with three full-electric cars in set to be launched in the coming years.
