Renault replaced Laurent Rossi as CEO of its Alpine sports-car brand, which competes in Formula One, with Philippe Krief taking over at the top.
Rossi will now focus on "special projects linked to the transformation of the Group," Renault said in a statement on Thursday.
Krief is Alpine's head of engineering and product performance. Before that he worked for Ferrari as director of engineering, and also at Fiat and Maserati.
Krief will continue to carry out his duties as engineering and product performance boss pending the arrival of his successor, Renault said in the statement.
"Alpine is now ready to enter a new phase of its development and to become a brand of the future," Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo said in the statement.
