Rolls-Royce has appointed former Skoda and BMW designer Jozef Kaban as head of design.
Rolls-Royce has been without a head of design since Giles Taylor left last summer to oversee design at the Hongqi luxury division of Chinese automaker FAW.
Kaban, 46, has been head of BMW's design studio since 2017 working under BMW Group design chief Adrian van Hooydonk.
Before joining BMW, which owns Rolls-Royce, Kaban was design chief at Volkswagen Group's Skoda unit. He was credited with rejuvenating the Czech brand’s design with cars such as the widely praised third-generation Superb midsize model.
A Slovakia national, Kaban started his design career at VW Group in 1999 where he created the exterior design for the Bugatti Veyron hypercar. He became Audi's head of exterior design in 2003 before moving to Skoda in 2008.
