Toyota's Daihatsu to develop EV minicars amid low-cost focus

Daihatsu cargo van EV — Daihatsu announced last year it was partnering with Toyota and Suzuki to jointly develop and manufacture full-electric commercial minivans for all three brands, but then suspended this due to a scandal.

TOKYO – Toyota’s troubled minicar maker Daihatsu will dive into electric vehicles as part of corporate remake that may give Toyota an inside line on low-cost compact EVs for global markets.
