Deutsche Post scraps its electric delivery van built with Ford

StreetScooter’s demise highlights the key issue with electric vans: They struggle to compete against diesel-powered rivals because their batteries are still too heavy and expensive.

FRANKFURT -- Deutsche Post will stop producing its StreetScooter electric delivery vehicle, bringing to an end a much-hyped venture that was once seen as a possible disrupter to conventional van makers such as Volkswagen Group and Daimler.
