Global sales are forecast to rise by 6% in 2022 as chip shortage eases

Ford pickups chip shortage 2021 — Newly built Ford F-150 pickups in Dearborn, Michigan, awaiting critical semiconductor parts last April. Ford lost 26 percent of production because of the chip shortage, LMC said.

Global auto sales will improve somewhat in 2022, analyst firm LMC Automotive said, but semiconductor supply shortages will continue to constrain production at least through the third quarter.
