Chinese electric carmaker Nio will team up with Nvidia to strengthen its driver-assist and autonomous-driving capabilities.
Nio will utilize Nvidia's new supercomputers, called Adam, to deliver new features starting in 2022, when the computers are scheduled to be on board Nio's flagship ET7 sedan.
Adam is underpinned by four of Nvidia's Orin processors. Nvidia says Orin can provide 254 trillion operations per second and be scaled up or down depending on whether the system is needed for simpler driver-assist functions or for autonomous operations.
"Autonomy and electrification are the key forces transforming the automotive industry," Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in a written statement. "We are delighted to partner with Nio … leveraging the power of AI to create the software-defined EV fleets of the future."
