Tesla wants to significantly increase sales in Germany where it opened a new assembly plant in March building Model Y cars.
"Our goal is to double sales every year, so we would be at about 80,000 units in 2022," a Tesla executive told Automotive News Europe sister publication Automobilwoche.
From January to August, Tesla sold 24,734 vehicles in Germany. In August, the automaker's sales increased by almost 40 percent and its market share rose to 2.7 percent. The Model Y was the overall top-selling car among private buyers.
