Tesla has begun moving equipment into its new factory outside of Berlin in preparation for the start of production for the Model Y compact crossover by this summer.

"Build-out of our Berlin factory continues as planned, and we have already started to move machinery into the building," Tesla said in its fourth-quarter 2020 earnings presentation on Wednesday.

Tesla did not specify what was being installed, but company watchers have posted recent videos and photos on social media, taken with drones and long-range lenses, of what appears to be paint shop dipping tanks and other equipment at the factory.

The plant is expected to help Tesla increase sales and market share in Europe.
