Toyota Europe poised for more growth amid EV shift, new rivals from China

While some legacy automakers have moved quickly to transition to electric vehicles from internal-combustion powertrains, Toyota has been more cautious, with just one full-electric car in its European lineup, the bZ4X SUV. Instead, it has focused on full hybrids, and increasingly plug-in hybrids. The second-generation C-HR, which started production this month in Turkey, will be the third plug-in model after the Prius and RAV4. Toyota Europe COO Matthew Harrison spoke with Automotive News Europe News Editor Peter Sigal at Toyota’s factory in Sakarya, Turkey, about the emissions road map ahead, and Toyota’s business outlook.
