Ineos has added a pickup to its lineup, which already includes the rugged Grenadier SUV.

The Quartermaster pickup is based on the underpinnings of the Grenadier.

In the U.K., Ineos has started taking orders for the pickup, which is priced from 66,215 pounds ($87,000). In the U.S., the model will go on sale later this year and start at $73,100, including shipping.

Like the Grenadier, the Quartermaster will be built in the Ineos plant in Hambach, France, near the German border.

The Quartermaster's frame is about 305 mm longer than the Grenadier's, and the pickup will be powered by the same 3.0-liter BMW straight six gasoline engine and ZF eight-speed automatic transmission used in the SUV.

The pickup can tow just over 3,500 kg (7,700 pounds) and will be available in the same three trims as the Grenadier: Standard, Trialmaster and Fieldmaster.

The Quartermaster made its debut Thursday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, along with a hydrogen fuel cell-powered Grenadier demonstration vehicle.

The Quartermaster is a new entrant in a declining European segment for pickups. The new Land Rover Defender, Ineos’s main competitor, does not offer a pickup after moving from a bolt-on bodyshell to an all-aluminum unibody vehicle.

Nissan too no longer offers its Navarra pickup in Europe, while Renault and Mercedes-Benz have also stopped selling their pickups in the region.
