BERLIN -- Audi's sales boss, Hildegard Wortmann, will add responsibility for sales activities across parent Volkswagen Group's brands to her tasks.
Wortmann, 55, will focus on creating new digital sales formats for the multi-brand group in the newly created role.
She will join VW Group's management board on Feb. 1, the automaker said in a statement on Thursday. The role will be in addition to her current job at Audi.
"By creating this new area of responsibility at group level, Volkswagen is responding to the need to fundamentally adapt its group-wide sales organization," VW said.
The restructuring "will take account of new digital sales formats and the importance of direct and continuous customer contact across all brands," the automaker said.
Wortmann moved from BMW to Audi in 2019. She previously worked at Unilever and Calvin Klein.
While at BMW, Wortmann was named one of Automotive News Europe's Leading Women in the industry.
Wortmann's promotion is part of a leadership shuffle at VW Group approved by the automaker's supervisory board on Thursday.
