BEIJING -- China's Chery Auto will sign a deal with a premium European brand over platform cooperation, said Yin Tongyue, chairman of the Wuhu-based automaker.
"Two premium European marques want to use our platform and a deal will be signed with one of them, a more premium brand than us," Yin said.
Yin said the deal will be signed during his Europe trip beginning Tuesday.
He was speaking on Sunday during a livestreaming event promoting the new Exlantix ET flagship electric SUV sold by its Exeed brand.
The Exlantix ET is developed on Chery's E0X high-end electric platform.
In addition to the two brands with which Chery is finalizing partnerships, the state-owned automaker is in talks with two other brands over possible team-ups, Yin said.
Chery is nearing a deal to start building cars in Spain, its first manufacturing site in Europe, the Spanish government and lead negotiator EV Motors said last week. Talks are focused on Chery producing vehicles at the Barcelona plant that Nissan shut down in 2021.
While the dealership buy/sell market commenced at a slower pace in the first quarter, and despite some uncertainty surrounding tariffs, strong profit and sales expectations are expected in 2025, fueling another highly active year for transactions. The report also features Kerrigan Advisors’ signature Blue Sky Multiples by franchise.
In China, Chery has a joint venture with Jaguar Land Rover to build Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in a factory in Changshu.
